Special Notes

1.  Lambda is the eleventh letter in the Greek alphabet.

2.  Lamda's phoneme sounds like the "l" as in "lot."

3.  Lambda is a liquid consonant. A liquid consonant's passage of air is restricted--but not stopped--causing friction while the sound continues. The vocal cords vibrate while saying the letter's phoneme. You can test this by putting your fingers on your vocal cords and practice saying it.

4.  Lambda's upper and lower case letters look dissimilar. The capital letter looks like delta, except that the letter is not closed with a bottom base stroke. The lower case letter has a hook at the top that slants to the left.

5.  Lambda is transliterated into English as "L" or "l."
