Special Notes

1.  Kappa is the tenth letter in the Greek alphabet.

2.  Kappa's phoneme sounds like the "i" as in "kin."

3.  Kappa is an unvoiced palatal consonant. Its phoneme is formed by the closure of the tongue against the soft palate AND the vocal cords do not vibrate. You can test this by putting your fingers on your vocal cords and practice saying the phoneme.

4.  Kappa's upper and lower case letters look very similar and are formed like their English counterparts.

5.  Kappa is transliterated into English as "K" or "k."
